This book considers "home fronts" from an overall imperial perspective and in a broad array of territories - Australia, India, South Africa, Ceylon, Palestine and Kenya aswell as Britain. Most studies on this subject are confined to Britain, or to a single other colonial territory, neglecting the fact that Britain controlled a large Empire and that there were numerous "home fronts", each of which contributed greatly to the war effort but each in slightly different ways. Empire at War also supports multiplayer options online.There is increasing interest in the "home front" during the Second World War, including issues such as how people coped with rationing, how women worked to contribute to the war effort, and how civilian morale fluctuated over time. Land combat is unit and vehicle-based and relies on securing reinforcement points to land additional forces and using build points to construct defenses.Įmpire at War offers several modes of game play. Enemy hardpoints can be targeted allowing players to knock out shield generators, flight hangers, and other ship systems. Space combat allows the player control over squads of smaller starcraft and larger capital ships. Players can control Darth Vader, Han Solo, and many other classic characters. In addition to classic Star Wars units and vehicles, Empire at War also includes heroes units. Players command either the Imperial or Rebel forces and engage the enemy in space and on land, while boosting their own economies and building units and support buildings.
